Story 5: LIND DNA Corduroy - Texture, warmth, and a quiet beauty

This week, we turn to LIND DNA - a family-run Danish brand that has built its identity around the quiet power of material, craft and everyday usefulness. Since joining DMI in 2016, it has become an important part of our collection, bringing a distinctly Scandinavian sense of calm to the table.

Founded in Aarhus Denmark, LIND DNA has, from the beginning, been guided by a clear and purposeful idea: to create beautiful, functional design from recycled leather. Long before recycled materials became a wider industry focus, the brand was already committed to transforming surplus leather into something lasting, considered and deeply usable.

That approach remains at the heart of everything LIND DNA makes. Using OEKO-TEX® certified recycled leather, the brand works with leftover material from furniture and fashion production, giving new life to what might otherwise be discarded. The leather is granulated, combined with natural rubber. and coloured with natural water-based dyes to create a material that is both refined and responsible.

The result is design with a quiet confidence - tactile, practical and unmistakably Scandinavian. Every piece is designed and crafted in Denmark, where in-house production allows the Lind family to move with remarkable agility from idea to prototype to finished product. For Preben Lind and his daughter Mie Lind, that direct connection to making remains essential: it is what keeps the brand responsive, precise and true to its original values.

For Story 5, we are focusing on Corduroy, LIND DNA’s newest leather. Elegant and tactile, it adds subtle movement and visual richness. Its fine lines shift gently with the light, creating a surface that feels both understated and expressive - a material detail that invites a closer look.

What has always distinguished LIND DNA is the way it understands the table as more than a surface. While the brand offers table and glass mats in a range of shapes and forms, Curve remains its most iconic design - a long established shape that feels perfectly aligned with the calm, considered character of the collection. That spirit is captured in LIND DNA’s own words: “In a world of noise, a table mat becomes more than a surface. It frames the moment, grounds the table, and brings quiet order to the everyday.” It is design that does not demand attention, but rewards it, creating atmosphere through restraint and beauty through purpose.

That philosophy feels especially present in Curve Corduroy. The texture adds softness without losing clarity, offering something that is both contemporary and timeless. It is the kind of detail that changes the feel of a space not be overwhelming it, but by setting naturally into it - thoughtful, tactile and beautifully made.

For DMI, LIND DNA reflects many of the values we hold close: craftsmanship, trust, longevity and the belief that thoughtful design should feel both useful and meaningful. As we mark 25 years of DMI, it stands as a reminder that the strongest partnerships are built on shared values, care and continuity - and that even the most practical objects can hold a quiet kind of beauty.
